Dive | Nusa Penida, Bali

Nusa Penida is known for its Manta Ray cleaning station and for its Mola Mola dive season when the cold currents push up from the south. If you are looking for a really chill dive day paired with some explorations in the afternoon, Penida is a destination for a nature rest.

Nusa Penida is the next perfect dive destination if you:

  • Are looking for a quick 3 day weekend, however, 4 days of diving would be recommended;

  • Are new to diving - great conditions and instructors for Open Water and Advanced Open Water Courses;

  • Want to dive with Mantas.

TIP: Nusa Penida is best explored by Scooter; however, we work with a handful of reliable drivers.

Where is Nusa Penida:

Nusa Penida is one of the Nusas (Penida, Lembongan, and Ceningan) that sits just off the southeast coast of Bali (Indonesia). It is accessible by direct flight on multiple airlines. From the airport, you will be transferred to Sanur for a 45-minute boat ride to one of the ports of Penida.

TIP: Fastboat timings are limited. Plan your arrival for the morning, have lunch in Sanur, and then take the fast boat in the afternoon.

When Is the best time:

We recommend avoiding Nusa Penida during the high season of July and August.

Mantas visit the cleaning station year-round, but the best months are May and October for calmer seas and fewer divers in the water. Mola Molas come in with the cold water, usually during August.

Family-friendly and for the Non-Divers:

Are you the only diver in the family? Don’t worry, and please bring them along! The dive boat returns for lunch provided at the dive centre, leaving you the entire afternoon to explore the panoramic viewpoints at sunset. Penida also has freediving lessons and yoga available.
