Dive | Amed & Tulamben, Bali.
Tulamben and Amed sit at the foothills of Mt. Agung. They are about 10 minutes apart from one another and offer unlimited short dives.
If you are looking for a calm and perfect place to learn how to dive, this is for you. And bonus, the water is so warm, you do not need a wetsuit!
Tulamben and Amed is the next perfect dive destination, if you:
Are looking for a quick 3 day weekend, however, 4 days of diving would be recommended;
Are new to diving - great conditions and instructors for Open Water and Advanced Open Water Courses;
Or looking for an intro to wreck diving.
Tulamben was made famous worldwide because of the ship the USS Liberty, that was torpedoed by the Japanese and beached near Tulamben. In 1963, Mt. Agung erupted and the 130m wreck slipped off the beach in to the shallow waters. Liberty Wreck now lies 5-30m deep.
Where is Amed/Tulamben:
Amed and Tulamben are on the northeast coast of Bali (Indonesia), accessible by direct flight on multiple airlines. They are located around a 3-hour drive from the airport with traffic.
TIP: Arriving very late in the evening is good for avoiding traffic on the way up. The same logic applies to departing flights: leave as early as possible.
When Is the best time:
July and August are the only months we suggest avoiding Amed and Tulamben. Otherwise, Amed and Tulamben are diveable year-round, with the best months being May and October for calmer seas and fewer divers in the water.
Family-friendly and for the Non-Divers:
Are you the only diver in the family? Don’t worry, and please bring them along! The dive resort is very family-friendly, and you can walk to the beach for a swim or snorkel. Amed also has freediving lessons and yoga available.
