Scuba Diving | Hammerheads Banda Sea, Indonesia

When you are a scuba diving enthusiast, you will have the big five on your list: whale shark, manta ray, turtle, sharks in general, and mola mola. And then there are the extra specials which includes: schooling hammerheads, going to the Galapagos, or diving with humpback whales.

It is time to tick hammerheads off your lists. Banda Sea, which sits in the middle of the Coral Triangle, has a relatively short season and is best accessed by liveaboard. We cannot guarantee sightings, but the track record has been spotless since.

Where is Ambon and Banda Sea:

Ambon, jumping off point for Banda Sea is accessible by direct flight from Jakarta.

When Is the best time:

Amaya cruises Banda Sea in October and November, the best times for experiencing schooling hammerheads. At other times, this liveaboard can be found in Komodo and Raja Ampat.

AOW-Certified and Confident Divers only:

This liveaboard is for experienced, confident divers with excellent buoyancy control and strong finning. You must be Advanced certified.

3-4 dives a day exploring dive sites around Banda Sea (up to 18 dives total)

Transfer to Ambon airport for flight to Jakarta and onwards
